(AGICOSINTERNATIONAL) - 21 July 2010 - WORLD CUP BETTING: TURNOVER ROSE 70% TO €345 MILLION, VERY WELL THE FIRST ROUND OF THE TOURNAMENT FINALS

This summer’s World Cup generated €344.918.774,05 in betting turnover, an increase of 70% from the previous World Cup. Despite the effect of Italy’s elimination on the figures – according to data released by the AAMS - turnover exceeded all expectations: in the first round of the tournament finals, betting revenue rose 82% compared to last World Cup in 2006. The AAMS devoted extensive effort to increase access to this gambling event: openness of the schedule in December 2009; 2,158 events offered 1,589 of which produced revenue; half a dozen new bets created for the occasion; live betting available on all major events. Most of the events without revenue collection are related to goal scorer match bets; the presence of small teams’ little-known players didn’t induce bettors to gamble (as long as such bets are available).
