2009 was a very special year for Italian gamers: 177 new lotto millionaires (up 20,4% from 147 in 2008) thanks to Lotto, SuperEnalotto, Scratch-off tickets and Traditional lottery games. The introduction of new games with huge jackpots led to numerous millionaire winnings. Two winners shared the SuperEnalotto jackpot on February 9, 2010, matching all the six winning numbers and taking home €69.511.157,32. Another lucky player in Bagnone won €147.8 million (August 22nd, 2009) guessing the six-number combination of SuperEnalotto. In the first six months of 2010, 47 lottery players became millionaires by hitting prizes worth €1 million or more. Taking into consideration the holders of a winning ticket for an annuity prize, thanks to the new games like “Win for Life” or “Turista per Sempre”, the number of millionaires amounted to 137, Agicos reports.
